Why does the same web site look different on different computers? One of the great frustrations of designing web sites is that it is impossible to know exactly what the web site visitor is seeing on his or her screen. Unfortunately, what looks one way on our monitor can end up looking somewhat different on your home computer or office computer.
Here are few reasons why your website may look different on other computers:
Operating System Differences – Windows and Macintosh and the two most common used operating systems that are used today. Within each of those operating systems are a variety of versions (For example Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, etc). Each of these systems come with their own separate fonts and display settings which may cause the website to look different between other computers.
Browser Differences – Currently the most popular web browser is Internet Explorer. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc., are just a few other browsers you can choose from. Just like operating systems, there are different versions of browsers as well (For example: Internet Explorer 5.0, Internet Explorer 5.5, and Internet Explorer 6.0, etc). Each version of these browsers may read web code differently which may cause your website to look differently on other computers. The index is like a giant book containing a copy of every web page that the spider finds. 5. The search engine program sifts through pages recorded in the index to find matches to a search and rank them in order of what it believes is most relevant How long is it going to take before I see an improvement in my website’s search engine rankings?Every SEO campaign’s results will vary.
